A suspected thief was today lynched and his house burnt by an angry mob who trailed him to his hideout in Nyatike Sub County.

The suspect whose name has not been established but is said to be a resident of Rongo Sub County was reported to have been hiding in one of the homes in Nyatike after committing crimes.

According to a witness, Aluoch Jakiranda, the suspect was cornered at the home of his relative.

Jakiranda said that the suspect was killed by angry villagers who then forced the owner of the home to set on fire a house in which the suspect was found.

Confirming the incident, Nyatike police boss Dishon Chebaka said the deceased was killed by villagers who stormed his hideout.

“A team of police officers consisting of CIDs and regular police have been deployed in the area to investigate the matter," he said.

The body of the deceased was removed to St. Camulus mortuary as the investigation continues.
