Edward Muchiri, who appeared before chief magistrate Samuel Mungai, was accused of breaking into a shop belonging to Margret Waithera on December 14 at Nakuru‘s Racecourse estate where he allegedly stole electronic appliances valued at Sh40,000.

The court heard that the accused jointly with others who are still at large used a blunt object to gain entry into the shop, before they made away with the property.

The accused also faced another charge of handling stolen property. The court heard that Muchiri was found hawking a gas cylinder which was among the stolen items.

The accused was released on a Sh40,000 bond with a surety of the same amount. The court also directed that the accused be escorted to Rift Valley General Hospital for treatment before hearing of the case on February 9, 2015.
