Reports indicate that suspected gunmen who attacked an Administration Police (AP) camp in Arabia, Mandera County, escaped with four Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits.
The suspected Al-Shabaab gunmen, Radio Maisha reports, also made away with two laptops used in the ongoing mass voter registration drive, police vehicle and three guns.
The militants reportedly killed an officer, leaving scores injured during the early, Thursday morning attack.
Mandera County police Commandant Mohamud Saleh said unknown number of heavily armed suspected Al-Shabaab militants attacked the station after vandalising a Safaricom mast at Khoror Farar at around 3am.
This, he said, caused communication hitches in the region, giving the attackers ample time to conduct their attacks.
He however indicated that reinforcement from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in Mandera had been dispatched to the area, to ensure security.
The attack came barely two weeks after suspected Al-Shabaab militia attacked Jabane Hotel and Equity Bank building in Mandera town, the night of January 23.
