Four suspects were on Thursday arraigned before a Mombasa Court to answer to charges of being members of the al-Shabaab terror group.
The four, Mohammed Kassim, Faraj Swaleh alias Mustafa Kheri, Ali Bwanadi and Kassim Ali alias Abdirahman Saidi denied the charges before Mombasa Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi.
The accused also faced a second count of possessing chemicals used to make explosives.
They were also charged with being in possession of a G3 gun with seven rounds of ammunition and one Ceska magazine alleged to have been used in an attack.
The court further heard that the accused were in possession of two rifles and 37 rounds of ammunition.
The accused who denied all accounts levied against them filed an application to be released on a reasonable bail term.
State Counsel David Masila however opposed their application due to another case the accused are facing in a different court.
Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi ordered for the case to be heard on April 8 when she will deliver her ruling on the bond application.
The four accused persons were remanded at Shimo La Tewa Maximum Prison.
The four were arrested by Anti-Terror Police Unit on March 1 at Bumala police roadblock within Busia County, while allegedly attempting to sneak into Uganda.
It is alleged that the accused are connected to a gang that attacked the Kenya Army Nyali barracks after a rifle belonging to a soldier was recovered from a house they used.
