Suspected Pokot bandits on Tuesday attacked a vehicle ferrying exams at Lomelo area in Kapedo, killing two officers.

Nine other officers were injured during the Tuesday morning attack, and one officer is said to be missing.

“The car was returning KCSE examination papers from Kapedo during the Tuesday attack at Kasarani area," Inspector John Wabwire of Kapedo AP camp said as quoted by the Star.

The bandits also injured Ibrahim Sheikh, the Turkana East sub-county director of education, and all went to Lomelo dispensary to receive treatment.

"They were injured on various body parts but are in stable condition," the police further added.

The KCSE exams have been going on since last week, even though it has had its fair share of challenges.

The education ministry has had to use helicopters in some areas to fly exam papers, with most parts of the country experiencing heavy rains in the last two weeks.

However, security in most areas has been beefed up, particularly in the Northern Kenya, as the students write their exams.
