Police in Njoro have rescued a 12-year-old mentally challenged girl from a man who allegedly raped her at Ng’ondu farm.
The pedophile was rescued from an angry mob that was baying for his blood after the heinous act on the girl.
The suspect, a casual labourer, allegedly committed the offence at the girl’s homestead.
An angry mob descended on the suspect, who escaped death narrowly after police officers intervened to rescue him. The suspect was taken to Njoro police station for interrogation.
According to the victim’s father, the suspected rapist has been a close family friend and has been enjoying a very close relationship with them.
“It pains to see a man we have helped and considered a family friend turning against our epileptic daughter and raping her in our house,” the shocked father said.
The father said he was attending a burial of his brother when he received a call that his daughter had been defiled by a neighbour.
A medical report from Njoro sub-county hospital revealed that the minor had indeed been defiled.
The police said the suspect will be charged in court after completion of the investigations into the rape of the girl, who attends a special school in Nakuru.
