Edwin Obata was caught red-handed by a student whose clothes he was collecting from a dry-line.

A few students joined in interrogating the ‘thief’, which resulted in an eventual mob gathering at the scene and started beating him.

The hall’s security team quickly arrived at the scene and saved him a possible lynching as comrades bayed for his blood.

It wasn’t clear whether he was a student as he claimed.

He was taken to the Kisii central Police Station where he was realised to be a foreigner (not a student of the University) after questioning.

Students in the campus said this is not the first time they are experiencing people stealing their clothes from the line.
