Police in Nakuru have impounded several bags of suspected contraband sugar at a supermarket.
The sugar was being sold to wholesalers who repackage it and sell to retailers for home consumption.
A battery of police officers raided the supermarket where the bags which were labeled Brazil Sugar were found.
Interestingly, Nakuru Town East Deputy County Commissioner Salat Omar said the sugar is safe for consumption.
"All we have now is just a suspect. The products being sold to the public are safe. We only suspect the sugar got into the country the wrong way," he said.
