A woman suspected of belonging to a gang fleecing people in Nakuru of money through illegal taxes was arrested on Monday with fake documents belonging to Nakuru County Government. Nakuru OCPD Mr Bernard Kioko said the woman was arrested in Shabaab Estate following a tip off from members of the public. Speaking at his office, Mr Kioko said: “We received information that someone was pretending to be an official of the County Government in charge of public works and housing and was soliciting for hand outs from property developers.” “We raided a residential house in Shaabab Estate on Sunday morning and arrested one suspect and recovered several fake documents belonging to the county government. She is helping us with investigations because we believe she is a member of a gang that has been involved in illegal tax collection in Nakuru,’’ said Kioko. He said police were pursuing more members of the criminal network after interrogating the woman suspect.
