A suspected thief was on Sunday lynched by an angry mob in Likoni, Mombasa County.The suspect was lynched by residents in Shonda area along the Mombasa-Kwale border after he was allegedly nabbed with the stolen goat.Likoni OCPD Alfred Rotich who confirmed the incident said residents found the 21-year-old man slaughtering the goat.The residents are said to have stoned the suspect to death before setting his body on fire.“The Suspect was lynched by an angry mob over suspicion of stealing a goat. He was allegedly found slaughtering the goat,” said Rotich.The OCPD, however, warned residents against taking the law into their own hands when dealing with robbery suspects.“We want to warn the people against mob justice. People should avoid taking the law into their hands by killing suspects. If suspects are captured, they should be handed over to police for proper course of action to be taken against them,” said Rotich, as quoted by Baraka FM.The police boss said they will launch investigations into the incident.
