A suspected ‘illicit brewer’ now wants the government to fire an administrative chief whom she accuses of inciting residents to unlawfully raid her house.

Mrs Alice Onwong’a spoke after an incident that saw her only house destroyed by suspected youths who were allegedly hired by Mr. David Ogega of Mwongori location.

She said the youths raided her house and destroyed it, claiming that they had been sent.

“There is no justice in this country and I wonder how long the weak in the society will suffer. The chief sent people to my house on claim that I am a brewer yet he knows well that I neither take nor brew chang’aa. It’s sad that they can raid my house and destroy it on mere allegations,” she said.

She accused the chief of witch hunt and demanded that he be fired, apart from demanding that the government takes responsibility of constructing her destroyed house.

“The chief should be sacked for using illegal means to witch hunt innocent people. He should not bring personal difference on sensitive matters like illicit brewing. I demand also that my house is repaired and I have already recorded a statement. They didn’t recover anything to do with illicit brew and I demand an explanation why ambush a private resident,” she added.

However, Mr Ogega declined the claims and asked the aggrieved to face him in court and also threatened to sue her for defamation.

“I don’t recall an incident where I sent people to do the crackdown on my behalf and if there is any, and then it must be village elders and community policing members. The allegations that I sent youths to search and destroy her house are ridiculous and malicious. I am ready to meet her in court and face the matter,” he said.
