A middle-aged-man on Thursday faced the wrath of Kaloleni and Ngelani Locations residents in Machakos County after he allegedly stole a motorbike after tricking a Bodaboda operator.

Confirming the incident, Machakos CBD Chairperson Abigael Nyange while addressing the press in Machakos stated that the event followed a series of motorbike theft in the town.

“There has been a series of motorbike theft reported to be taking place even at daytime. The residents have managed to arrest the suspected thief,” said Nyange.

The Chairperson of Bodaboda Association in Machakos County Allan Musembi who arrived at the scene warned thieves that these with intentions of stealing Bodabodas from operators would be dealt with accordingly and taken to Courts.

Musembi further narrated how the cunning thief managed to escape with the motor bicycle he had been carried on.

“The thieves are very cunning, he pretended to be a passenger and half way along the road he claimed that he wanted to answer to a call of nature, but when the operator stopped the motorbike, the passenger hit the rider before trying to escape with the bike,” said Musembi.

According to Musembi the suspected thief escaped with major injuries after he ran into Kaloleni Chief’s camp to seek help.

Kaloleni area Chief Martin Muumbi said that the man has been taken to Machakos Police Station together with the motorbike he unsuccessfully tried to steal by officers from Ngelani Police Post.
