A suspected motorbike thief was on Thursday afternoon lynched to death by angry boda boda riders at Nyamarambe area few kilometers from Kerina in Kisii County.
According to the riders, the suspect who is yet to be identified is among a group of armed men who have been attacking and killing boda boda riders at night and stealing motorbikes from them.
"We could not leave anything for chance after we found him with a stolen motorbike. We lynched him to death to send a warning to other criminals who have been stealing motorbikes in the region. No thief will be spared or surrendered to police," said Isaiah Nyakang’i, one of the riders.
Kisii South assistant county commissioner Thomas Bett confirmed the incident and said police arrived at the scene and found angry riders had already lynched the suspect.
"Police officers from Kerina arrived at the scene and found the suspect lying down dead. Members of the public should stop be taking the law into their hands. Crime suspects should be surrendered to police officers,” said Bett.
