A suspected thief was killed by an irate mob in Likoni for allegedly stealing from one of the supermarkets in the area.

The man, whose identity is yet to be established, broke into a mini supermarket belonging to one Washington Kudur, a prominent businessperson in the area alongside five others who managed to escape.

The suspect was beaten to death and his throat slit by the angry mob.

Speaking to Baraka FM, one of the eyewitnesses said the suspected gangsters had stolen several goods from the mini supermarket including three mobile phones, cylinder gases and other goods worth Sh50,000.

Security personnel in the area said they recovered the stolen goods a few meters from the scene of crime.

They also recovered knives and other crude weapons that are believed to have been used in committing the offence.

The body of the suspect was taken to the Coast General mortuary pending investigations.
