A suspected robber has been lynched to death by an angry mob at Nyabisiongororo area in Boochi location Kisii County on Tuesday morning.
The suspect was among a three men gang that had broken into a church called Jesus Is Here at Nyabisiongororo area in Gucha sub-county in a dawn burglary attempt.
Kisii County Police commander Ms Agnes Mudambi has confirmed the incident on Tuesday and said members of the public raised the alarm that the gang was breaking into the church.
“The mob preceded to chase after them after alarm raised and they caught one of the suspects and lynched him to death,” said Mudambi.
Mudambi added that the motorbike that was being used by the suspect was also torched on the spot
According to Mudambi the other two suspect managed to escape the fury of the mob and are at still at large.
Mudambi has urged the public not to take the law into their hands.
The deceased body has been moved to Kisii level 6 awaiting postmortem as Police launch investigation into the matter.
