An angry mob lynched a middle-aged man at Nyamawa village, Kerara sub location in Nyaribari Chache over allegations of stealing from a nearby kiosk.
The man was pursued and nabbed by boda-boda riders when the kiosk owner raised the alarm.
Kisii police commander Hassan Abdi confirmed the incident and asked residents not to take the law into their own hands but instead report any crimes to the police.
"We won't entertain crime as we ask the public to maintain the law by reporting any incident to security officers," said Abdi.
Abdi said they will increase police patrols in the area to boost security.
"This holiday season, police will patrol with the help of Nyumba Kumi and community policing members to ensure there are zero crimes in the region," he added.
