A middle aged man was on Friday found dead at Rigena village near a transformer on what many pundits associated with attempted vandalism on transformer.

According to witnesses, the deceased whose identity would not be immediately substantiated due to absence of crucial identification documents, was allegedly in possession of a Jeri can and special climbing shoes, normally associated with workers of KPLC.

“I just had cries from a passerby and decided to run here. We found this man dead from a suspected electrocution. He was in possession of a container and probably he wanted to steal oil,” said Wilson Nyabando.

“As a community here, we do not really know how the incident took place but I suspect it was around midnight because they (thieves) like operation in total seclusion,” Nyabando added.

Area chief Evans Obangi confirmed the incident and urged residents to respect property belonging to companies besides pledging an intensive investigation to unfold the mystery.

“It is true that somebody was sadly electrocuted near that transformer. We do not know his identity since there is no sign of identification document with him. This is quite sad and it’s our duty to respect properties belonging to other people,” he said.

“We are currently investigation the incident and whoever with any concrete information over this tragedy can assist us,” he said.

The body of the deceased was taken to Nyamache District Hospital awaiting identification.
