A suspected 26 years old thief was on Tuesday lynched at Igana-Itambe, Bosamaro in Nyamira in the ongoing crackdown against robbery.
Angry locals said the suspect only identified as Mokandu is among the criminals who have been terrorizing residents at night in the area.
“Mokandu is among dangerous robber around. We had no option than to eliminate him for our safety," a resident said.
Area Nyumba Kumi official Riang’a Osaso confirmed the incident adding that the suspect had been linked to robbery incidents for a while.
"On Sunday the deceased with 3 others attacked and robbed a woman Sh20,000. This is the major reason why locals lynched him," he said.
He urged local leadership to address the unemployment predicament which he says has contributed to the menace.
