Police officers who were on patrol in Nyamusi area Nyamira County on Friday morning shot and killed a suspected thug in a failed robbery.
Manga OCPD James Musyimi confirmed the incident and said the deceased was among the 5 armed robbers who were on a robbery mission in the area.
“Security officers who were on patrol ambushed the criminals who were on a mission to commit crime. The criminals started firing at police officers when they were asked to surrender. Police managed to kill 1 and arrested one criminal,” said the OCPD.
Musyimi assured that police have launched a manhunt for the thugs who escaped wit injuries.
“The criminals who escaped with injuries are being pursued by police. Members of the public are urged to report any suspected criminals to police for legal actions to be taken,” he said.
The OCPD added that the suspect who was arrested will help police to arrest other criminals.
He said the body of deceased who is yet to be identified was taken to Nyamira County Hospital mortuary.
