A manhunt has been launched for two suspects who escaped from the Mathare mental hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
The two were murder and burglary suspects.
According to Prison warden corporal Geoffrey Wasilwa of Kamiti maximum prison attached at Mathari hospital, 22-year-old Katina Robert Titus a murder suspect and 25-year-old Boniface Murimi Murithi who has been charged with house breaking and stealing before Embu law courts were undergoing treatment at the facility.
Katia is said to have a pending case at the High Court in Nairobi.
“The two cut the window grills before jumping off the perimeter wall at unknown time on Tuesday afternoon,” said Wasilwa.
This comes after a break at the facility during the doctor’s strike when over 80 patients escaped from the hospital.
