Two suspects charged with the murder of former University lecturer Prof Stephen Nzuve have been set free.
Cyrus Mutunga and Ronald Ngala were on Friday released by Kangundo senior principal magistrate, Desderious Orimba, saying the prosecution had failed to produce credible evidence.
However, their co-accused, Dominic Mutua and Stephen Irungu were found by the court of having a case to answer.
In his ruling, judge Orimba said the prosecution sufficiently adduced evidence linking the two to the capital offence.
In late 2015, the four were accused while armed with dangerous weapon namely pistol of robbing professor Nzuve of three laptops, two wrist watches, three mobile phones, one wedding ring, three ATM cards all valued at Sh420,000.
The court was told the accused allegedly committed the offence on December 12, 2015, at Kyakatulu village, Sengani sub location, Tala location, Matungulu sub-county in Machakos County jointly with others not before court.
They had all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The case continues next month.
