The seven, aged between 20 and 28, were nabbed in Machakos town following a police tip-off that they were part of a child trafficking ring that operates in Nairobi's Eastlands estates.

According to police, the seven successfully organised to steal a three-day-old baby in Makadara last week on Monday before they traveled to Machakos where they were to meet a potential buyer, but they were nabbed before selling the kid.

They were detained at the Machakos Police Station as police conducted more investigations into the incident that happened days after the Kenyatta National Hospital case where another woman stole a child only to be arrested in Kawangware in Dagoretti North constituency.

The women will be arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts.

Among those arrested in a 17-year-old house help said to have worked for the woman who lost her baby.

The owner of the recovered kid, Millicent Mbithe told Radio Citizen that the house help disappeared with the baby as she dozed off because of the fatigue that she still had after the delivery.

Mbithe said court should deliver justice and the seven should act as an example to others with similar intentions.
