Former Kisumu Mayor Sam Okello said what is important is raising the numbers to give Raila a clear win in the coming polls slated later this year.

Okello who is eyeing Kisumu Central seat says aspirants should put all their energy in getting new voters to register.

“This is the time that aspirants forget about campaigns for their seats and put more energy on voter mobilization,” he said.

He said it is after the registration that aspirants should now sell their policies to the electorates.

He noted that there is need to pull resources together to ensure that the remaining 14 days to the closer of the mass voter registration is properly utilized.

Speaking to the press at the Kisumu bus stage on Wednesday where he led mobilization of voter registration exercise, Okello says latest figures are still low and much needs to be done.

Okello further called for the implementation of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive that issuance of IDs should take three days.

“We want the local administrators pushing this directive to ensure our people gets IDs and register for votes before the one month elapses,” he said.

He said residents are still frustrated in acquiring the document and wondered why the directive is being implemented selectively.
