Assembly Clerk Owen Ojuok confirmed that his office had received the suspension letter of the two leaders and they are requested to present themselves to the committee to be chaired by Fred Athuok.

Ojuok says the two leaders are requested to ensure they are accompanied to the committee by two witnesses each.

The two will make the trip to Nairobi as the assembly appeared to have buried the hatchet when acting Speaker Gabriel Ochieng stepped down to allow deputy speaker Pamela Omino to chair yesterday’s session.

The two agreed to work together as their wrangling on who to chair the session yesterday reached to a stalemate forcing the assembly whip Isaiah Onyango to call for a “Kamukunji”.

Members of the public yesterday hailed the agreement noting that the assembly is lagging behind in the dispensation of its duty at the expense of constant wrangling.

However, Ochieng has maintained that he is the substantive speaker until the case at the Kisumu Court of Appeal is heard and determined later this month.

“For the sake of peace let me step down for Omino but I want to let her know that I am the substantive speaker as per the law,” he said.

There has been suspicion among the MCAs that Omino might adjourn the house indefinitely that might result into the dissolution of the county in a case she fails to re-convene it within the stipulated time.
