The MCAs claim that the speaker was biased in giving out the verdict.

Tononoka MCA Saad Faraj, his Port Reiz counterpart Fadhili Mwalimu and Miritini MCA Swaleh Kibwana were on Tuesday suspended by Speaker Thadius Rajwayi for allegedly conducting themselves in an "unethical and unbecoming" manner.

The MCAs reportedly pulled down the speaker's portrait during the passing of the Mombasa mini budget, terming the 9 billion budget as unrealistic.

“There was a lot of chaos in the assembly. There is no way the speaker can be sure of whom brought down the portrait,” said Mr Faraj in a phone interview on Thursday.

The MCAs have threatened to petition the speaker in a bid to ensure that the suspension is lifted, adding that it won’t be business as usual until the speaker apologizes for suspending them without granting them a fair hearing.
