According to the Star, a bullet was on Tuesday retrieved from Tony Katana’s body after conducting a second postmortem at the Coast General Hospital but police have since refused to hand it over to the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) officers.

Haki Africa executive director Hussein Khalid has said that the rights group and the general public are worried that police could alter the bullet exhibit that is key to the case.

Police, however, dismissed the worries and said they are doing everything to see to it that justice is dispensed at last.

“We are doing our investigations while IPOA is doing theirs. We will hand over the exhibit after we are through with it,” Kisauni deputy police boss Walter Abondo said.

The victim was killed on August 12 while he walked from a wedding and there have been speculations that this was one among the several extrajudicial killings cases.
