Mombasa based singer Susumila has denied using dark powers to advance his musical career. The talented singer cum songwriter attributes his success to hard work and commitment. The rumors linking the singer to dark magic emerged after he released his latest single 'Tebwere'. 'Tebwere' is said to be a phrase commonly used by witch doctors.In the song, the artist is alleged to be praising dark forces for lifting him from grass to grace.Susumila is also said to have used the song to hit out at broke artistes, Baraka FM reports.“Majanga ni msanii kuishi nyumba tenga mbili” (It’s a shame for artistes to live in houses where they pay Sh2000 rent), says Susumila in the song.Susumila has however dismissed the claims, saying his success is purely based on his hard work.“I work hard boss, I don’t sleep enough. If you have done your research, I am very consistent in my work. I push my music a lot because it’s my only source of income. Even religion states that lazy people should not eat,” said Susumila during an interview with a local daily.
