Koffi was deported on Saturday morning after he was caught on tape kicking one of his female dancers soon after landing in the country, but the dancer has since denied that she was assaulted.

“I do not support any form of violence against women or men. Either way, we've been too hard on the Congolese musician,” Owiyo said.

“I believe we are all human and people make mistakes and regret their actions after. I condemn his behavior yes but he did apologise. Deporting him and revoking his visa permanently is in bad taste,” she added.

She said Gender Affairs CS Sicily Kariuki must have reacted due to pressure on social media in calling for the deportation of the musician.

Owiyo further said women have for years suffered in silence as perpetrators walk freely.

“The manner in which we our system has dealt with untouchables cases is wanting. The same CS will/can never utter a word on the untouchables,” she claimed in a post on her Facebook.
