Narok North MP Moitalel ole Kenta has challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to drop his hard stance and dialogue with the Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday, the lawmaker noted that dialogue would help foster peace and unity in the country.

“Uhuru should swallow his pride and meet Raila. Our country is bigger than the two. We need a dialogue similar to what happened following the 2007/2008 post-election violence that threatened to tear our country apart,” he remarked.

"We do not want the peace we have been enjoying to be interrupted. Whenever there is a crisis, it is the vulnerable, women and children, who suffer. We don't want this to happen," he added.

His remarks were reiterated by Narok County Woman Representative Soipan Tuya of Jubilee, who observed that leaders in the country must unite for a common cause regardless of their political affiliation.

"We have realised we need to unite and serve our people who elected us without minding a lot about our political parties. We need a common stand on matters affecting the county," she said.

The legislators' calls come ahead of Raila's inauguration plan as the the People's President slated for later this month.
