Two Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) bishops have lauded the new partnership between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Bishops John Okude and Robert Magina of Katakwa and Nambale Dioceses respectively said they were in full support of the reconciliation between the two leaders, following the surprise meeting on Friday.
Bishop Magina said the move by the two to work together for the sake of peace in the country was laudable, adding that the new partnership will alter the country's political equation.
However, the Nambale Bishop called for the inclusion of churches in the negotiations.
"Kenya is not only for the two leaders but for all of us. Each one of us wants to say what will make Kenya a place to be proud of and a place to make our children not seek for alternative livelihood outside," he said on Saturday.
Bishop Okude said as a church leader and senior citizen of Kenya, he was happy with the move by Kenyatta and Raila to reconcile to rid the country of many challenges it was facing.
He asked three NASA co-principals Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka to swallow their pride and join Raila Odinga whether they were involved in the talks or not.
"Having skipped the "swearing in" ceremony he trio walked a tight rope. Since Raila is their team leader they should have trust in what he did on their behalf and join them," he said.
They were speaking during the burial of Katakwa Diocese founder member Lay Cannon Timothy Akwara, 94, in Aboloi, Teso North Sub-County, Busia County. The Burial was also attended by Busia First lady Judy Ojaamong and Patrick Omutia, the Director of Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council in the office of Deputy President, William Ruto.
