Addressing the press in Eldoret town on Tuesday, Swazuri said the commission has stepped up efforts to reposes grabbed public land.

He said that county governments must start to identify public land that they suspect has been grabbed, and forward the information to the commission.

“As a commission, we are not going to tolerate land grabbers who think that they can steal land meant for development and walk away scot free,” he said.

Swazuri said the commission has established good working relations with counties, a move he said will help curb land grabbing.

The NLC chairman warned land grabbers saying that the commission will deal with them decisively.

He added that the commission has mapped out areas where public land grabbing is on the rise, and will be taking action soon.

“We want to repossess all grabbed land and make sure that that the grabbers are dealt with,” he said.

Swazuri identified Uasin Gishu County among counties with high cases of land grabbing, saying that the commission is investigating several cases where public land has been allegedly grabbed by prominent people in government.
