Speaking in Mombasa on Thursday, Swazuri said the commission does not charge any fee for solving land disputes.

"Some of you are being asked to pay Sh3,000 in a bid to solve land disputes. NLC does not ask for a penny in order to listen and solve any kind of land disputes, thus we ask members of the public to remain vigilant to avoid falling prey to fraudsters," said Swazuri.

Swazuri said cooperation among residents will boost the commission’s activities and assist in solving land issues within a reasonable time-frame.

Speaking during the same event, former Mombasa Lands CeC Antony Njaramba asked members of the public to embrace such forums as an alternative means of solving land issues, which tend to take decades when forwarded to the Judiciary.

"The sessions are conducted openly before both parties who are involved in the disputes, and the services are offered free of charge. Positive results are also usually obtained at the end of the sessions,” said Njaramba.
