National Land Commission Chairman Mohammed Swazuri on Thursday promised that a dispute over blocked road in Naivasha will be resolved in a week’s time.
He visited Karagita area in Naivasha where residents have been protesting the closure of a road to Lake Naivasha since Wednesday.
Swazuri, who was accompanied by Nakuru County deputy governor Joseph Ruto, promised the residents that a solution would have been found by Friday, next week.
“As we have said, we are going to meet with all the parties involved in this matter and even before the end of next week, Friday, we will have resolved the issue," said Swazuri.
He said that the commission will respect the court order that has authorised the closure of the road saying that they will seek other dispute resolution means to leave all parties contented.
"We will follow what the court says till the matter is sorted out," he added.
The deputy governor appealed for calm as the matter is being resolved saying that the county government will ensure fishermen and other traders who use the road do not lose out.
"This is the governor's initiative because he want this matter resolved once and for all," he said.
