The National Lands Commissions (NLC) says it is seeking a permanent solution to historical land disputes and grievances by citizens.
Gichira Kibara, a member of the task force on historical injustices said this as he led a team of the commission to Thika. He said that the team is collecting views from Kenyans which they will then use to table a bill parliament recommending how to solve the problems the residents are facing in their respective geographical locations.
“We are collecting the views of Kenyans to make sure they are involved. We need a solution to these land problems from them,” Kibara explained.
Mohammed Ali Chege, a resident in Ruiru said that Kiambu County is dominated by neo-colonialism with many people in courts pursuing their respective land suits. The court cases are mainly on defrauding which needs to be addressed.
“We have to find a lasting solution as the white man left a dominating black man who grabbed all the land. The commission should think of cleaning the land office by sacking all the corrupt officials,” Ali said.
