The National land commission Chairman Mohamed Swazuri is warning of a new scheme by land grabbers to evict squatters from communal land.

Swazuri raising an alert says land grabbers are using fake court orders to get police to evict squatters urging security officers to authenticate the validity of court orders before carrying out any evictions.

As the value of land continues to appreciate, land grabbers and illegal cartels continue to invent new schemes to benefit illegally from the sale of land.

Raising the red flag while visiting squatters occupying disputed communal land in Athi River, NLC chair Mohamed Swazuri claims digital land grabbers are out to possess communal land through dubious means.

Voicing his concerns over police being hoodwinked by the land cartels to help them, Swazuri urged law enforcers to verify and validate court evictions orders before assisting cartels from evicting squatters.

Mavoko MP Patrick Makau says the more than 5,000 squatters in the area are living in fear of possible illegal evictions.
