The Communications Authority (CA) has been asked to restore Citizen TV's live transmissions. This is after the TV together with Inooro remained shut even as KTN News and NTV were switched back on air on Monday.According to the Uasin Gishu Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) chairman Sheikh Abubakar Bini, continued shutdown of Citizen TV was denying Kenyans right to information as enshrined in the constitution."As religious leaders from this region, we are not happy with the way the government is handling the media, I am afraid that if this will continue we will go back to the dark days where we had one propaganda station," warned Sheikh Bini."I therefore demand the immediate lifting of the ban on Citizen TV since this is unfair and violation of the freedom of the press. Why did the government allow two TV stations to continue with their transmission yet denying Citizen TV, is there something we are not being told?" he added. The Muslim clergy further urged president Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga to swallow their pride and engage in dialogue that would bring the country together following the controversies currently being witnessed."I want to humbly ask the two leaders to sit down and agree to disagree putting in mind that Kenya is bigger than an individual," he said.
