It has been reported that the second case of Yellow fever has been witnessed in Nairobi.
This news is disturbing to the public, who have little knowledge about the disease which is spread by mosquitoes. Well, here are some symptoms of yellow fever.
It occurs in three stages; stage one where a patient complain of headaches, muscle and joint aches, fever loss of appetite and vomiting. The symptoms are said to go on for 3-4 days.
In stage two, however, most doctors call it remission stage. Here, fever and all other symptoms are not seen or felt. Some people recover in this stage but others are reported to worsen within 24 hours.
In stage three, the fever now attacks other body organs like the liver and the kidney. The patient can even go into a coma while others might suffer bleeding disorder.
With all this in mind, it is advised that patients do not treat any of the above symptoms, especially in stage one- as normal disease. The patients are, however, advised to seek medical attention before the fever graduates to the third stage. It is also advised to check your eye colour and tongue.
