Syokimau residents have called on politicians from Machakos County to be positive and give credit where it is due instead of mendling politics with development projects.
Addressing press in Syiokimau, the residents' spokesperson Silas Juma, said devolution had worked following the observable physical changes across the county.
"Devolution is working hence need for politicians from Machakos County to decist from mendling politics in development projects and instead give credit where it is due," said Juma.
The residents argued that Machakos County was never the same as compared with times when the country had not started implementing devolution.
Juma praised Governor Mutua, for what he termed as exemplary work in terms of projects design and implementation stating that Machakos County was in did a place to be.
He said two years down the line since devolution's implementation began, the County Government of Machakos had made credible strides in several development areas namely infrastrucure, health, agriculture, education, security and job creation to name but a few.
The spokesman disclosed that most of the roads in the region had either been graded or tarmacked by the county government, streets lit, public service delivery time reduced to 10 minutes and several youth awarded jobs.
The residents said that costs of doing business in the county had also gone down after improving the infrastructure, enhancing security and reducing taxation rates thereby enabling businessmen make more profits than ever.
They said that all elected and nominated politicians from the region should not politicise development for the best interest of common wananchi.
Juma said the leaders should instead unite and join the governor and the entire county government in providing services to the people to help improve livelihoods.
