A petition challenging Babu Owino's win as Embakasi East MP turned dramatic on Thursday after a witness accusing Babu of hiring goons was seen among the group of goons disrupting the election.

Mr Samuel Ayub, who was a Jubilee agent, in his testimony told the court that ODM’s Babu organised groups that terrorised voters during the August 8 election.

Mr Ayub told Justice Joseph Sergon that Babu hired hooligans who threw stones in a polling station in the constituency during the August 8 poll.

Mr Ayub was left shocked when a video was played in court showing him as part of the goons who disrupted the voting process in Embakasi East.

The witness failed to explain how he found himself in the crowd yet he had earlier told the court that at the time of the fracas he was manning a stream in a voting hall but he did not deny being in the video.

Jubilee aspirant Francis Mureithi who is challenging Babu’s win had moved to court seeking orders declaring the incumbent's win as null and void.

Mr Mureithi had lined up Mr Ayub as one of the witnesses.

In the petition, Babu has been accused of interfering with the election process and causing violence during the August 8 polls.
