The Taita Taveta County government has struck an agreement with the nurses stationed in the county to end an industrial action that commenced on early December last year.
The nurses, through the Kenya National Union of Nurses signed a return-to work formula agreement following talks with Governor John Mruttu and county health officials that will see the health workers resume work.
The Kenya National Union of Nurses Taita Taveta County Secretary General Boniface Mrashui confirmed the deal on Sunday, saying the County government had pledged to improve the medics' working conditions and addresses grievances raised by the union.
“We had lengthy negotiations with county government officials concerning our welfare. We came into an agreement over some of the issues and that is why we have decided to suspend the strike,” he said.
