Taita Taveta Governor Granto Samboja alongside several MCAs visited Bahati and Kimorigho in Taveta sub county to support the families that have been worst hit by floods.
Since Thursday last week, the County disaster management team with the support of the Red Cross Kenya and World Vision have been assessing the situation on the ground.
In collaboration with the National government, Samboja said they have donated 100 bales of Maize Flour, 58 bags of rice, 26 bags of beans and 30 jericans of cooking oil to support the affected families.
"To contain the flood waters, my government has set aside Kshs 10M to construct a check dam at Lesesia area," he said on Wednesday, adding that his administration would fund the construction of several water pans to reserve the water for future use.
"Our health department team has been able to distribute 1,000 aqua tabs for water treatment and 45Kgs of chlorine powder for disinfection of latrines/toilets and septic tanks to minimize the risk of water borne disease outbreak."
