Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party MCAs from Taita Taveta county have vowed to boycott party leader Raila Odinga’s tour in the county this week.
Led by Taita Taveta County Assembly Majority Leader Crowmell Baridi, the leaders have vowed not to attend Odinga’s rallies claiming to be sidelined by the the party’s leadership.
Speaking to journalists over the weekend, the grassroots leaders claimed they have not been engaged in the party’s national leadership but instead the only people to have been engaged were Members of Parliament, the senator and governor of the county.
“It's not the first time the party’s grassroots leaders are not engaged in matters concerning the party,” he said.
Odinga is expected to tour the county starting this Tuesday in what is termed as reclaiming the party’s popularity in the area.
ODM suffered a major blow after the resignation of Ababu Namwamba as secretary general with other supporters ditching the party for the ruling Jubilee coalition.
