After recording a huge decrease in business in the last few years, Embakasi's Taj Mall is now the centre of attraction to business investors.

The Sh5.5 billion investment earlier saw business investors flee after the National Land Commission and the Kenya Urban Roads Authority said they would demolish it for being on land that was illegally acquired.

Ever since being cleared, mall owner Rameshchandra Gorasia has since done renovations at the building and rebranded it from Taj Shopping Mall to Airgate Centre.

“I was an innocent buyer. I did not grab the land. In fact, I will be suing for damages. A lot of negativity was extended to this business for no reason,” Gorasia said as quoted by The Standard.

He warned he will not allow threats to recur to his business.

Before its fall from good fortunes, the mall served mostly residents on Embakasi, Pipeline and neighbouring areas.
