The National Party (TNA) Party members are demanding action from the Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi against the conduct of Cord MPs in parliament on Thursday.
TNA members claim that Cord allied members were responsible for chaotic scenes witnessed in parliament as the controversial security amendment bill was being debated and later passed.
Speaking in Kisumu, TNA Secretary General Onyango Oloo alleged that Cord, through ODM, has a history of violence as witnessed in many of its internal elections.
“We have seen how they behave in even their own party elections and they took their violent ways of doing things to parliament,” said Oloo.
Oloo alleges that the chaotic scenes were well planned by Cord MPs adding that action must be taken against them.
He said Muturi should take stern action that would act as a future deterrent to such Members of Parliament who turn parliament into a fighting ring.
He added: “The actions by Cord MPs in parliament were horrible and a setback to Kenyans. The MPs who were seen on camera pouring water on Deputy Speaker Lorna Laboso must be punished by the Speaker.”
Oloo absolved blame from MPs allied to the Jubilee coalition adding that the Jubilee team were supporting the motion and could not instigate such violence.
He however defended and supported the Speaker’s move of not adjourning the parliament session until the bill was passed despite the commotion.
The Secretary General further commended President Uhuru Kenyatta for moving with speed and signing the Security Amendment Bill 2014 into law. He added that the opposition to the law by Cord insinuates that the coalition is enjoying the ever ongoing insecurity situations in the country.
