Former Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama has called on the Courts to take action against President Uhuru Kenyatta over his past remarks against Supreme Court judges.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Muthama said by vowing to “fix” the Supreme Court, and calling the judges “wakora”, President Kenyatta was threatening the independence of the judiciary and creating a rift between the people and the courts.“President Kenyatta said he will fix the Supreme Court after the annulment of the August 8 results, he should come out and explain what he meets by that. If not, the court should take action against him because that is a divisive message,” said Muthama.“It is illegal for a president to label Supreme Court judges as Wakora and threaten to fix them. If my statements are criminal, then so are his,” he added.Muthama further alleged that he is being unfairly targeted by Jubilee in their efforts to weaken NASA leader Raila Odinga’s campaign ahead of the October 26 repeat elections. He said he has never been charged for corruption, land grabbing or any other crime stating that the incitement charges levelled against him are a deliberate scheme by Jubilee to taint Raila’s name and make him unelectable.Last year, the former Machakos Senator was arrested alongside five other legislators over allegations of incitement to violence, with the latest arrest coming just weeks ago, alongside Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria. They are both out on bail.
