Farmers in North Rift counties have been advised to ensure their livestock are vaccinated so as to help curb regular disease outbreaks.
Uasin Gishu Agriculture County executive in Samuel Yego has further challenged livestock farmers to take advantage of the subsidy that devolved units in the region have put on vaccines.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Saturday after a meeting with agriculture officers from four counties, Yego said it's only through regular vaccination will they be able to win fight against livestock diseases like Foot and Mouth that has become common in the region.
"We always urge all our farmers to take their livestock for vaccination whenever there's such an exercise as it won't be effective is some vaccinates and others don't," Yego noted.
"Vaccinations are always done whenever there's a risk of any disease outbreak and this explains why it's very important for each livestock to be part of the exercise," he added.
The CeC said the county government of Uasin Gishu had already subsidized vaccination cost from sh80 to sh50 per cattle.
Uasin Gishu together with neighboring counties of Nandi, Trans Nzoia, and Elgeyo Marakwet was in August last year hit by numerous outbreaks of Foot and Mouth disease that killed over 500 animals.
