Speaking at Makutano junction in Mwala on Friday, Musyoka noted that the Uwezo Fund would help them have descent livelihoods.

The MP observed that the existence of the fund has benefited many youths in neighbouring constituencies.

The lawmaker noted that through the fund, the marginalised groups can start ventures that will improve economic standards of the constituency.

“Mwala youths, women and persons living with disabilities should come out and seize this opportunity being given to them by the government,” he said.

The MP said with rising rate of joblessness, the only thing to do is for the marginalised groups to apply for funds.

He noted that the constituency is among the few that have seen very few applicants seek the funds.

The trend, if not changed, noted Musyoka, will subject many youths to poverty. The MP said that poverty and lack of jobs are the key problems facing many area residents.

He, however, observed that things can change instantly if youths take their lives seriously and seize every opportunity given to them especially on issues of development.
