Hamisi MP Charles Gimose has called on Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi to go back to his Western backyard and ask residents to turn out in large numbers to register as voters.
Speaking to mourners during the burial of freedom fighter Joseph Inima in Gisambai village, Gimose reminded Mudavadi that he should follow the footsteps of other leaders and ensure residents of Western region take part in the ongoing voter registration exercise as the opposition seeks to send home President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto during the upcoming general polls.
"In Central, you cannot even buy meat if you are not registered as a voter. That is the spirit that we need to borrow," he said, as quoted by the Star.
Gimose urged leaders from the Luhya community to shun laxity if they dream about the Presidency.
He denied links to Jubilee Party after speculation emerged that he has plans to make a shocking political move.
Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga, who also attended the funeral asked other leaders including Gimose to ensure that their residents register as voters.
"My brother Gimose, let us join hands and ensure we register as many voters as we can, then other leaders will join us along the way," he said.
