FIDA Chairperson Josephine Mong'are has urged police officers to take domestic violence cases seriously.
Speaking at FIDA offices based in Nairobi's Kawangware area, Mong'are said that cases of domestic violence have been on the rise and police officers should take reported domestic cases seriously to let the suspects face the law and victims as well get justice.
She said that severe cases of men attacking women and injuring them should be protected by the law.
"Married men have attacked women to show the public how superior they are. We have witnessed women injured like the case of Mwende who was chopped her two hands by the husband. Such cases should be taken seriously by police", she noted.
She urged women to report cases to police for actions to be taken .
"Many domestic cases go unreported. Women should not sit and watch being injured by men, something that end up to killings. Women must report domestic violence to police for legal actions," she said.
She added that women are free to walk to FIDA offices to seek help.
