Jubilee Party leaders drawn from Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties have warned President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto against taking Opposition coalition NASA's alleged growing popularity in Central Kenya for granted.
Speaking on Tuesday, the leaders noted that there is growing disquiet in Meru and Tharaka Nithi over unfulfilled pledges by the Jubilee adminstration, and the opposition was likely to capitalise on this.
This comes just days ahead of NASA's planned political rallies across Meru region.
Mt. Kenya Youth Caucus Chair Linford Mutembei further cautioned Jubilee against underrating the Opposition's planned visit to the region.
“The President and Deputy President are being misled that all is well in the area when it clearly is not,” he said.
Mutembei's remarks were reiterated by Igembe Central parliamentary hopeful James Mithika, who observed that Igembe residents are a dissolutioned lot.
“Igembe region particularly feels it has been terribly let down by Jubilee in recent appointments, including the nomination of former Principal Secretary Mutea Iringo to the East African Legislative Assembly (Eala),” he said.
